ABOUT

Salam,

My name is Awista, and I make art as a way of holding onto the things that feel beautiful and important in each season of life.

I’ve always been drawn to images, symbols, and people that carry meaning without needing to explain themselves through words. Growing up, drawing became that for me.

I migrated to Australia at nine years old without knowing English, and when words failed me, art became a refuge - a place where I could communicate, imagine, and exist without needing to translate myself.

That instinct never really left me. Creating still feels like the most beautiful way to communicate.

Although motherhood now keeps my hands and heart very full, I still find small moments during my daughter’s nap times to paint, draw, and create. In many ways, this season of life has made me slower, softer, and more intentional with my work.

Because of that, I chose to build Awiista around a sustainable made-to-order model rather than traditional mass production.

From the paper I chose to the end production all is taken with great care you can read more about it under sustainability

I wanted the way my art is produced to feel aligned with the values behind the art itself  thoughtful creation, beauty, sustainability, and care.

I pray my pieces bring you a sense of meaning, joy, or recognition in the same way they do for me.

Love and light ♡
