My name is Awista, and I make art as a way of communicating and remembering what matters.

I’ve always been drawn to images, symbols, and people that carry depth and purpose without needing explanation through words. Growing up, drawing served that role for me. I migrated to Australia at the age of nine with no knowledge of English, and when words failed me, drawing became a refuge. It was a place where I could think, observe, and exist without having to perform or translate myself. That instinct never left me despite all the places life has taken me. So here I am trying to hold on and honour that which resides deep within by continuing my creative journey. 

I pray that my pieces bring you meaning just as they do for me.
