SUSTAINABILITY

 Thoughtful Production and Transparency

One of the most intentional decisions I made when building Awiista was choosing a slower and more sustainable production model, even though it costs me significantly more as a small business.

After spending a long time researching print-on-demand companies, I chose to work with Prodigi because the quality, materials, and sustainability practices felt genuinely aligned with the values behind my work.

There were definitely cheaper options available. But many relied on lower quality printing, poor paper quality, excessive plastic packaging, or systems that simply didn’t feel thoughtful to me.

I wanted the artwork to feel beautiful not only visually, but also in the way it was produced.

Each piece is printed as a fine art Giclée print using premium matte papers with a soft natural finish. The paper collection I use forms part of a more sustainable range that prioritises eco-conscious practices and materials; including recycled, vegan, plastic-free, and responsibly sourced options alongside eco inks.

Orders are also fulfilled through local printing partners across Australia, the UK, Canada, the US, and other regions worldwide where possible. This helps reduce unnecessary long-distance shipping while maintaining consistent fine art quality.

As a mother raising a young daughter, I also needed to build a business model that allowed space for both motherhood and creativity. Rather than managing excess inventory, overproduction, or fast-paced fulfilment from home, this approach allows me to focus my time and energy on creating meaningful artwork slowly and intentionally.

Truthfully, this model leaves me with smaller profit margins than many traditional production methods. But for me, beauty and intention matter deeply.

There’s a saying of the prophet Muhammad : Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. And in the spirit of beauty which is ihsan I wanted that sense of care, excellence, and thoughtfulness to exist not only within the artwork itself, but throughout the entire process behind it.

Thank you for supporting slow creation, independent artists, and thoughtful production ♡
